This is a 180 from the usual makeup, soft, sugary posts I write, and unfortunately, the cynical, pessimistic side of me will come out.
So along with billions of Americans, I'm in the middle of a career-crisis. Simply put, I hate my job. There's just so many components to it, and then there's my parents (and sister, who is basically a female version of my dad who speaks English), that I'm getting really frustrated. So from reading Lovelyish earlier this week, I went out and bought one of the books this post recommended:
I've just started, on the first page of the first chapter, it lists a bunch of qualities that tells you that you are at the right job. According to Tieger, if you are in the right job, you should:
Look forward to going to work
- Feel energized (most of the time) by what you do
- Feel your contribution is respected and appreciated
- Feel proud when describing your work to others
- Enjoy and respect the people you work with
- Feel optimistic about your future
Â
I would be happy if I could say even 1 of those statements were true, but unfortunately, nothing could be more opposite from the list.
Anyhow, what about you? Do you love your job? How did you come about to finding your job?
As I read through this book, I'll post up passages from the book that's interesting, or even my reflections of questions asked in the book. It's definitely not makeup related, but I think my readers would still appreciate reading this.
