Steals and Deals - Shabby Apple Time

    By GloriaYangBB · July 2, 2009 · 1 Comment ·

If I had it my way, I'd wear cute knee-calf length dresses every single day.  It's the easiest and fastest way to look pulled together!  Plus there's about 300 ways to accessorize 1 dress - add a belt here, throw on a blazer there, wear it with stockings or even wear it with jeans (yes, I'm aware that the "trend" is gone, but I've always liked that)!

If you think like me, then you must take a look at Shabby Apple.  They have the BEST everyday dresses that you can wear to work and wear to party!  Styles range from button ups with a big lapel to simple knit jersey dresses with a criss cross design across the chest.  I bought 1 dress last year, and everywhere I went with it, people complimented it!

There's really no better time than right now to buy a new dress from Shabby Apple.  It seems like every July, they run a huge sale where tons of their dresses go on sale!  It's a good thing that my birthday is in July, which makes it so much easier to justify hauling cute clothes!  Another reason why I love buying from Shabby Apple is their charity program.  According to their website:

Shabby Apple donates 5% of its net dress sales to support work in India (where Shabby Apple Dresses has sourced many of its dresses and the textiles used to manufacture its dresses).  In addition, each Shabby Apple Dresses customer has the opportunity to donate an extra five dollars to Unitus every time she buys a dress. Shabby Apple Dresses and Unitus are involved with 10 of India's most promising microfinance organizations that provide financial services to more than 1.6 million hard-working women and their families.

If my purchase of one dress can help women, what's not to love?

    Forever 21 Saves The Night!

    By GloriaYangBB · April 21, 2009 · 2 Comments ·

I have this 1 black dress that acts as my fall back dress.  It's that LBD that works for me.  It goes to my knees, holds up my puppies without exposing too much (imo), and fits my curves perfectly.  Plus, I got it for less than $20 from Ross.

Problem: I have no idea where it is!!  While packing, in the back of my head, I knew I should bring it since we'll most likely end up at a club and everyone would be dressed nicely.  At the end, I was a bit tired and lazy, so I forgot about it and just packed my normal clothes.

Apparently, my normal style is too "Sunday Brunch."  As it happens, I enjoy sunday brunches, especially with mimosas!  Plus, my makeup is always fierce, so I don't really give too much thought to my clothes.  That didn't go over too well with my hotel roommate, who basically demanded that I go get a dress ASAP.

Luckily for me, there's a Forever 21 at the Fashion Show mall across the street from Wynn, and it's a quick cab ride away.  Forever 21 is the perfect place to go to find anything quick for almost every ocassion.  They have cute trendy clothes, basic tees, and super cute accessories all for low low prices.  Sure, the quality isn't the best, but in all honestly, I don't put much care into my clothes, so the bad quality doesn't bother me.  Plus, trendy clothes aren't meant to be worn for a long time, so why spend $50 when you can spend $15?

Anyhow, the Forever 21 in Vegas is super tiny, probably the size of my apartment, which does not work out well.  Girls everywhere love Forever 21, so it was too packed!  On top of that, I'm totally used to the giant multi-level Forever 21 stores here at home.  It was definitely shocking.  I started looking for dresses that appealed to me, and within 5 minutes I found 2.  The dressing room line was super long, so I quickly hopped in line, figuring that my friend would bring me dresses as she looked throughout the store.  While in line, I saw a SA putting back a cute black and white floral print dress, and my mind just thought, "that is the dress!"  I lunged forward to grab one in my size, hung the hanger over my head to fit it over me (you guys ever do that?), and YAY!  It worked!

My friend agreed that it would fit well, so when I finally got a dressing room, we agreed to try that 1 on first.  Voila, IT WAS PERFECT!!  It fit well, and was totally my style.  It still was a bit "Sunday Brunch", but with the right shoes and minus the wrong accessories, it would be hot!  My first instinct was to put on my big giant black hair bow, a pair of black opaque tights, and slip on my gold ballet flats, but of course, that idea was turned down.

Thank you Forever 21 for saving the night, and allowing me to score a super cute dress (my alternative LB&WD) for only $15!
